Topic: In the future all cars, buses, and trucks will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers. Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages?

In recent years, driverless vehicles have become one of the most debated technological developments. Supporters argue that they will make transportation faster and safer, while others, including myself, believe they pose serious risks to society. Although this technology may bring some convenience, I firmly believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

To begin with, the safety of autonomous vehicles is highly questionable. Technology may give an illusion of perfection, but software glitches and sensor failures are still extremely common. If such an error happens during high-speed travel, the result could easily be a fatal accident. Moreover, driverless vehicles are vulnerable to cyber-attacks. If hackers gain control of a public bus or even a truck carrying dangerous materials, the consequences would be catastrophic. Unlike humans, artificial intelligence lacks instinct and moral judgment, especially in unexpected road situations like protecting a child suddenly running into the street. Depending entirely on machines in life-or-death situations is, in my view, irresponsible.

Another major drawback is the potential rise in unemployment. Millions of people around the world earn their living as taxi drivers, truck drivers, or bus drivers. If autonomous systems replace them, an entire working class will be left jobless. This would not only harm individuals but also damage the economy by increasing poverty and social inequality. Technology should improve human life, not leave people behind for the sake of profit.

Admittedly, driverless transportation may offer certain benefits. It could reduce accidents caused by human errors such as drunk driving, speeding or fatigue. Additionally, traffic efficiency might improve thanks to AI-based traffic coordination. However, these benefits are still theoretical. Most autonomous vehicles today are in the testing phase, and even major companies have not solved core safety and reliability issues. Therefore, it is unrealistic to claim that the advantages currently outweigh the disadvantages.

In conclusion, while driverless vehicles may sound promising at first, they bring serious safety, ethical, and economic problems. Until this technology becomes truly safe and socially fair, I strongly believe that the disadvantages are far greater than the advantages.
